Turn Your Leather Shoes Into Suede!

Keep leather shoes a good distance away from heaters. Dry heat sucks moisture out of your leather shoes. This can lead to your shoes cracking and looking rather shabby. Store your good leather shoes very carefully. Make sure they are at least three to five feet away.

Did you know that leather shoes can actually decrease chances of any skin irritation. Not to mention, leather shoes often last longer as leather is very durable and these types of shoes are often nicely constructed. Think about buying yourself a nice pair of leather shoes that fit your style.

Avoid shoes that are made from plastic. Shoes should be breathable and flexible, so it is best to stick to leather or canvas shoes, as both materials will allow your feet to breath. In addition, plastic shoes will not provide your feet with very much support and will thus increase the risk of injury during physical activities.

If you have bad feet, you should think about buying shoes that have an all leather bottom since they help protect the feet from damage. They cost a bit more than other shoes, but that is far less than you will end up paying for regular visits to a podiatrist.

To get a shoe that transitions neatly from casual to slightly dressy wear, consider a model that looks like a sneaker but is rendered in a tasteful dark brown. Throw them on for a hike, or polish the leather up and put them on with a pair of cargo pants.

Be kind to the staff members at your favorite shoe store. They can often offer you discounts or even bonus items, such as leather weatherproofing spray, for free if they like you. Frequenting a store also can get you loyalty discounts or rewards, so when you find a good retailer, stick with them.

Make sure to waterproof shoes that are made of leather or suede. If you don’t, you’ll get them wet and end up having to throw them out. After all, great shoes are an investment and will give you many years of satisfaction if you take care of them.

Find a local cobbler to save some money on shoes over time. The soles of shoes tend to wear out much quicker than the fabric and leather it’s made from. A local cobbler likely can replace the sole of your shoe for a fraction of the cost of a bran new pair.
